Karakoram International University
The university was established in Gilgit in 2002 by a charter of the federal government on the orders of the then President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf, and in July 2011, its Skardu campus was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Syed. Mehdi Shah, this campus was later upgraded to the Independent University of Baltistan in 2017. In 2014, during the visit of His Excellency Mr Mamnoon Hussain, Chancellor of KIU and President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan announced the establishment of KIU Hunza. and women’s campus. As a result, KIU Hunza Campus started its educational programs in 2016. In addition, KIU’s Gheijer and Diemer Campus was established in 2018 under HEC’s Vision 2025 to provide access to higher education at the district level. ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The admission for BS/Bachelor (4 years) degree programs on campus will be announced every year only for the spring semester.
Admission will be open to all eligible candidates as per the following;
80% of the total seats in each subject in each department are from Gilgit Baltistan.
20% of the total seats in each subject in each department from all over Pakistan (except Gilgit-Baltistan).
Foreign students seeking admission to the university must submit their applications through HEC, Government of Pakistan. Such students will be included in the 20% as mentioned in (b) above.
Candidates will be required to submit the application form (Annexure-B) within the prescribed
time, complete in all respects, along with the following documents duly attested by an officer also visit ilmkhoj.pk
