On May 29, 2014, the Punjab Assembly passed the Khawaja Farid University of Engineering and Information Technology Act, which started the legal work of the university. Four classrooms have been rented at Government College of Technology and on September 1, 2014, a group of 200 students divided into four fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology at KFUEIT.
On September 2, 2015, the first vice-chancellor, Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob, joined the University. Shortly after its foundation, classes and administration were moved to the university’s own campus on Abu Dhabi Road in some renovated buildings. The Punjab government has allotted 220 acres of land and the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore has planned a budget of Rs 1 billion. 3,847 million to complete this university project. This budget was approved by the Planning and Development Board, Punjab for the establishment of Khawaja Farid University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan.
KFUEIT is constantly in the process of developing its own infrastructure of modern buildings and other exceptional facilities. A perfect ICT infrastructure design has been developed for the installation of all types of information systems through free open source technologies. Multi-department library books, magazines, newspapers, manuscripts, movies, maps, prints, documents, microforms, CDs, videotapes, DVDs, e-books, audio books, databases. The aggregation is arranged in order of classification numbers called system decimal classification.
