The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), is a public research university located in Islamabad, Pakistan. The university is designed to international standards with a strong focus on STEM fields related to nuclear science and the scientific advancement of medical science.
Established in 1967 as the Reactor School with the sponsorship of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission in response to the support and management of nuclear power infrastructure in the country, the institute began its academic activities with the affiliation of the Quaid-e-Azam University, and the Center became. In 1976 the Center for Nuclear Studies (CNS) received its new name and became independent as a public university in 1997. In 2000, PIEAS was granted the status of a doctoral degree conferring institution. PIEAS is based on a 150-acre (0.61 km; 0.23 sq mi) campus and has approximately 135 full-time faculty members. As of 2017, the Higher Education Commission ranked PIEAS as the first leading engineering university in Pakistan.
