The thirst for knowledge has been called the ultimate weakness of great minds. The great mind can give up everything, but not the longing for knowledge. When both the ruler and the ruler have the same emotions and the same thirst for knowledge, it gives rise to an intense desire, which ultimately results in the formation of great institutions. Malakand University, the dream, the most urgent need of the people of the region, is now a reality. It is actually one of the highest intellectual achievements of its founding father, former Governor N-W.F.P, Lieutenant G. (Rt.) Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah. He laid brick after brick to build this palace. Legislation after law provides a strong basis for creating a strong code. The establishment of a university in Malakand was indeed a task. It is said that behind every event there is an intelligent mind that guides matters.
Malakand University is working sincerely for excellence as well as character building. UOM, the dream, the most urgent need of the people of this region is now a reality. It is actually one of the highest intellectual achievements of its founding father, former Governor N-W.F.P, Lieutenant G. (Rt.) Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah. The University of Malakand UOM was established in 2001 as a public type university. It has been recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and approved by the Ministry of Education, Pakistan.
The demand for a university in Malakand Division had been felt since 1972 but due to political polarization and “district animosity,” the idea could not be implemented till 2001. Find credit for yourself credit goes to Iftikhar Hussain Shah who came up with the idea of setting up a university on the existing site. After consulting with senior PIDC officials, he formally announced the establishment of the university in August 2001. The services of his advisor Prof. Dr. Lustfully Kakakhel in this regard will never be forgotten. Following the announcement, the provincial law department raised some legal issues regarding the establishment of a university in PATA (Provincial Administrative Tribal Areas).
It can be said without any hesitation that behind all these ceremonies, due to which the Establishment and Sentinel Professor Dr. Jalandhar Shah were. He is the one who has been chosen for the right work. Under his full guidance, the university staff is developing to design the future of our nation. No doubt, there are many obstacles, but they melt away before their courage, thus paving the way for them. But those paragons should never be forgotten who worked hard for the establishment of this glorious sign of light, which will always shower rays of wisdom and knowledge on people and expand their hearts and minds.
